The Medical University of South Carolina, in collaboration with the College of Charleston’s Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, has developed the Contemporary Carolina Collection, the largest body of original, contemporary, South Carolina art on permanent display. These 873 works from 54 artists include a variety of mediums such as photography, oils, watercolors, basketry and ceramics. This collection speaks to the diversity of the people of our state; South Carolina’s culture and heritage; and provides a comforting and familiar environment for patients, families and guests during their visits to Ashley River Tower, MUSC’s newest hospital.

The Contemporary Carolina Collection has been supported by private funding. Donations will sustain future acquisitions, display and conservation of this collection.
