Artist Biography:
Liisa Salosaari Jasinski was born in 1945 in Helsinki, Finland where she also spent her childhood and youth. She pursued a career as a writer and translator before receiving a Master’s Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Art History from the University of Helsinki in 1972. After graduation, she came to the United States to study psychotherapy. She has lived in the U.S. since 1974 and started her career as an artist in the early 1990’s. The clean, modern style of Finnish design, crafts, and architecture, as well as the early 20th century European Expressionism have had a significant impact on her development as a visual artist.
Salosaari Jasinski’s exhibition history during the past 15 years covers much of the U.S. She has been featured in one-person exhibitions in Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina. She has also been included in two-person and invitational exhibitions nationally. Her paintings have been seen in over 40 group exhibitions including Triennial 2004 at the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia, SC, and Gross Innovations at the Cynon Valley Museum in Aberdare, UK. Her award-winning work is represented in many corporate, public, and private collections around the United States.

About the Work:
“My inspiration for this series of oil paintings has come largely from two sources: nature and man. By this I am referring to the universe, as we know it and the human psyche in its complexity. My interest in cosmology and theoretical physics, as well as the desire to understand human character and destiny goes back many years. Ideas and concepts from these themes make their way into my work in one form or another, sometimes appearing as subject matters.”
